Sustainable Salon
A sustainable salon is a business that minimises its environmental impact by diverting waste from landfills and adopting eco-friendly practices. We collect and recycle a wide range of materials like hair, foils, plastic, paper, and chemicals, often sending the proceeds from their sales to charities like OzHarvest and donating hair for wigs for those with medical hair loss.
Key practices of a sustainable salon:
Waste diversion: We use a specialised systems to separate waste, such as foils, color tubes, plastic, paper, hair, and chemicals.
Resource recycling: Collected materials are recycled into new products, like plastics into landscape supplies, metal into new materials, and chemicals into recycled water for manufacturing.
Social initiatives: Funds generated from the recycled waste are donated to charities that provide food, while collected hair is used to make wigs for people experiencing hair loss from conditions like cancer or alopecia.
Eco-friendly products: Most product packaging are made with sustainable materials and processes.
Energy and water conservation: Sustainable salons will also focus on reducing energy consumption and conserving water in their operations.
Benefits of choosing a sustainable salon:
Reduces landfill waste: By recycling nearly all salon waste, they significantly decrease the amount of waste sent to landfills.
Supports community programs: Profits from their recycling efforts contribute to programs that feed hungry communities and support those in need.
Supports a circular economy: They help create a circular economy by repurposing materials that would otherwise be discarded.
Creates a positive impact: Choosing a sustainable salon allows you to support a business that is actively working towards a more sustainable and equitable future.
There will be a standard $3 waste management cost added to each appointment for Sustainable Salons.
